Virtual Remote Medical Interpreter

Position Overview:


CGX Virtual Solutions is seeking a compassionate and professional
Virtual Medical Interpreter to provide accurate and confidential language interpretation services for healthcare-related interactions. This remote role requires fluency in English and a second language (such as Spanish), a strong grasp of medical terminology, and excellent communication and listening skills. As a Medical Interpreter, you will support communication between healthcare providers and patients, ensuring mutual understanding of medical information, instructions, and consent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Real-Time Interpretation:

Facilitate accurate and confidential interpretation during phone calls or virtual meetings between clients and Medicare insurance representatives, agents, or support staff.

  • Terminology Accuracy:

Ensure correct use of Medicare-related terms, including enrollment periods, plan types (Part A, B, C, D), benefits, premiums, and coverage options.

  • Patient Support & Education:

Assist in explaining patient rights, medical forms, care instructions, discharge summaries, and follow-up processes, while maintaining interpreter neutrality.

  • ● Confidential Documentation:

Document interpreted sessions in client records as needed, and flag any language or cultural barriers that may impact patient care.

  • Cultural Competency:

Ensure culturally sensitive communication between patients and providers to build trust and improve care outcomes.

  • Compliance & Confidentiality:

Strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations and industry standards for confidentiality and ethics in medical interpretation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical interpreter in clinical or telehealth settings.

  • Certification in medical interpretation (e.g., CMI, CHI, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; education in healthcare or languages is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must have the ability to speak English at a C1 level to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and patient interactions.

  • Excellent verbal communication, memory retention, and note-taking skills.

  • Professional demeanor and emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to remain impartial and accurate under pressure.

  • Proficiency in video conferencing tools and digital record systems.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
